Living an Exceptional LIFE - November 10, 2019

Guest Speaker: Matt Donaldson

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your  good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

-Matthew 5:14-16

How Do I Live an Exceptional Life?

1.  By now for what will come .

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil… Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”

-Job 1:1, 6-8

2.  By   who I am about

Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought. So they brought these men before the king.  Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up?  Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

-Daniel 3:13-18

3. I must stop saying “ ” and instead say “ ”.

”= (very good thing)

”= on the

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

-Psalm 63:1-8

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 4:4-7

LIFE APPLICATION
To discuss during the week with your family or Life Group

1.How are you preparing now to be utilized by the Lord at some point in the near or distant future?

2.  Start/continue reading Scripture from the perspective that the individuals may or may not know God but certainly were unaware of all that He was doing at the time. How does this change the way you see Scripture? God?

3.  What “If Only…” situation in your life do you need to learn from, move on, and put behind you so it becomes a “Next Time…” What have you been dwelling on which currently prevents you from living an exceptional life? Or what “Next Time…” perspective might you share with others which may help them to live an exceptional life.

4. What is your next step as a result of this message?
