Turning Water Into Wine - February 17, 2019

A wedding took place in the city of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited and in attendance. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, and Jesus’ mother came to him with the problem.

-John 2:1-3

1. Joy runs dry in my life because of the   of this world.

2. Joy runs dry in my life because of the emptiness of religious .

At the feast there were six stone water jars that were used by the people for washing themselves in the way that their religion said they must. Each jar held about twenty or thirty gallons.

-John 2:6

“Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.” At the feast there were six stone water jars that were used by the people for washing themselves in the way that their religion said they must. Each jar held about twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants to fill them to the top with water. Then after the jars had been filled, he said, “Now take some water and give it to the man in charge of the feast.” The servants did as Jesus told them, and the man in charge drank some of the water that had now turned into wine. He did not know where the wine had come from, but the servants did. He called the bridegroom over and said, “The best wine is always served first. Then after the guests have had plenty, the other wine is served. But you have kept the best until last!” This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

-John 2:4-11

2. What do we learn about Jesus in this miracle that might help us to find our own miracle?
3. Why role does the word “attitude” have to play in thinking about your own joy in life?
4. What is your next step as a result of this message?
